Which Bioceuticals products are suitable for Vegetarians?

All tablets, liquids, gels and creams are suitable for Vegetarians.

What are the capsules derived from?
 
A)
Bioceuticals capsules are made from gelatine and contain Bovine, which is obtained from animal source, this is Pharmaceutical grade and Halal certified. Not suitable for Vegetarians.

When is it the best time to take supplements?
 
A)
It depends on the supplement taken; multivitamins and herbal combinations are best taken on a full stomach to aid absorption and assimilation, if taken on an empty stomach it may be sensitive on the stomach lining and may cause nausea.

Are Glucosamine supplements best taken in the morning or evening?
 
A)
It is best to take them in the evening when the body is at rest, the Glucosamine in the system can work effectively to re-build in and around the joints, keeping you ready for the next day of activity.

How can large tablets or capsules be swallowed?
 
A)
Always with a large glass of water to wash the tablet or capsule down, however if you still find them hard to swallow, try a liquid with a thicker consistency such as fruit juice or milk which, may help swallow the tablet or capsule easier.

Can large tablets be crushed and swallowed?

NO, this is not recommended as the tablet may loose its effect, however you can break the tablet in half and swallow each half with water or a liquid that has a thicker consistency.

Can Slow Released tablets be chewed?

NO, all slow released tablets are to be swallowed whole; by chewing the tablet the slow release mechanism will not work.

Why is urine a bright yellow colour after taking a Multivitamin supplement?
 
A)
If the Multivitamin contains Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) or Folic Acid, the urine may have a bright yellow colour to it, this is because these nutrients naturally contain these colour which look florescent when passed through urine.

How long should pregnant women take Folic Acid for whilst pregnant?

It is recommended to take Folic acid up to the 12th week of pregnancy to avoid neural tube defects such as spina bifida.

These are the ingredients in the formulation that have a function and benefit the body if taken, for example Glucosamine, Vitamin A, Folic Acid and Iodine is all ‘active’ ingredients.

What are ‘In-active’ ingredients or bulking agents?
 
A)
These are ingredients used to make the tablet in order to bind the tablet together; they have no function in the body and are used by manufacturers in formulations, examples are Microcrystalline Cellulose which is derived from wood pulp and Magnesium Stearate which is derived from waxy maize or corn.

What are Sulphates, Citrates, Gluconates and Oxides?

These are all compounds that are bounded to vitamins and minerals and play a role in the absorption rate of that vitamin or mineral in the body.

What is Crosscarmellose?
 
A)
Crosscarmellose is used in tablet manufacturing and acts as a disintegrate, when in contact with water it disperses all the active ingredients in the gut so they can perform there individual roles.

What is HPMC (Hydroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose)?
 
A)
HPMC is a vegetable based ingredient used to coat tablets to give it a clean smooth finish; it can also be formulated within a tablet to give the tablet the ‘Slow Release’ effect.
